While the United States government was trying to figure out what was going on, Max kept getting urgent messages from Golda Meir, who was the Prime Minister, from Simcha Dinitz, who was the Ambassador in Washington: “Max, we’re really in trouble.” Now Max went into make a case for re-supply, immediately. Had Nixon not been inclined to do that anyway, it never would have happened.
