Max M. Fisher with Israeli Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin and President Richard Nixon

January 28, 1970

Abstract

As Ambassador, Rabin had his differences with Fisher, believing he was a court Jew. But after his stint as Prime Minister, Rabin wrote: "Israel is not alone, provided it knows how to harness the support of its friends, Jewish and non-Jewish, in a discreet and judicious manner. From Max Fisher I always received great support; the door of the White House is always open to him and in time of need, Max moves its hinges."
President Nixon is presented with his personal copy of the first major Jewish encyclopedia to be published in 65 years. The presentation, in the Oval Office, is made by Mr. Max M. Fisher and Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin of Israel with Max Fisher in attendance.
