With William Brock
Abstract
Max Fisher lobbied to bring the 1980 Republican National Convention to Detroit and, despite many party leaders' wishes to avoid the troubled city, GOP National Chairman William Brock, a close friend of Fisher's, cast the deciding vote in Detroit's favor. The convention was a success, bringing capital and confidence to Detroit and furthering Republican candidate Ronald Reagan's successful bid for presidency.
